After the Battle

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim..

Assalamualaikum and a very good day :)

Battle? I mean, the election battle. Alhamdulillah, the result was good and to be in the 1st ranking was a bonus to me. Thank you voters, thank you supporters, thank you family and friends.. thank you all! Quoted from Donald H. Mcgannon; "Leadership is action not position". I believe, the ranking doesn't matter but how you walk the talk matters the most. InsyaAllah. I'll try my very best.

Sorry all, I took quite sometimes before I have a chance to write and dedicate my deepest appreciation to all of you. Again, sorry and thank you so much:)

Regarding the election wave in our campus, I would say 27% percentage of vote is a very small number. It is obvious that voting awareness among UTP students are very low and sadly the percentage goes down year by year. More and more students fail to see the importance of selecting their leaders. They simply choose not to choose.
This unhealthy mind set needs to be recovered very soon as students are the future leaders of the nation.

If future leaders choose not to choose, then who will choose to lead? Think and act.

Later. Wslm.

Demonstration, why?

Assalamualaikum :)

It has been a while since the last post. Well, the silent was due to final exam and followed by first week of internship. New things, interesting, tiring - a mixture of feeling. I'll tell you in a different post, InsyaAllah.

Having to leave UTP for 8 months of internship period doesn't put a full stop to write on what's happening back there. Today, MPPUTP organized a peace rally or a demonstration against the Israeli attack on Gaza Mission near the mosque area after Friday Prayer. Even though most of the campus community is currently enjoying the semester break, the rally still proceed. Good Job and keep up the good work MPP.

It was the Israeli deadly attack on the Freedom Flotilla on 31st May that brought up the anger in every individuals across the globe. The flotilla was carrying 10 000 tonnes of aids meant for Gaza and 700 volunteers on board. It was a humanitarian mission but it was attacked by the Israeli forces as if it was a military mission carrying armies and weapons to break into Gaza. In the attack which took place in the international waters 65km from the Gaza coast, 19 people were dead and many experienced injuries.

Many parties voiced up and condemned on the attack made by the Israeli forces. Demonstration is one of the way to voice up. Some might ask, do the Israeli armies hear the shouts? do any of the army come to the demo? and some might end up saying, there's no point of demonstration, it is a waste of time and worst, stop thinking on Gaza issue.

In any demonstration made, it was very clear that it can't stop the Israeli forces from bombing the Palestinians or shooting them on the head right away. Why demo then? You'll be asking.

Demonstrations or condemnation statements are meant to create awareness, to spread the information, to show protest and dislike and to show the Israeli forces that the world is now against them. Just a simple question for you to ponder, before the freedom flotilla was attack, do Gaza issue gain this much of attention from the whole world? I believe you have the answer.

11th June 2010: UTP mosque
(Tuan Hj. Mat Nor Rosli- Director of SSSD and Mustapa Mansor- activist on Marvi Marmara) more

When the flotilla decided to go and break the siege, many people worldwide doubt on the success of the mission. This didn't stop them from reaching their target to bring help for Gaza. Unfortunately, they didn't manage to break the siege due to the pirate-like attack by the Israeli forces. But the attack did bring hikmah in      another way round. It managed to gain the attention of the whole world and proves the world that Israel is the greatest criminal of the planet earth.

Same goes to the demonstrations or condemnations made by many parties, it may not stop the Israel-Palestine war immediately but it will somehow bring an impact on this issue. Sooner or later. Hope that it will make people more aware of what's happening in Gaza and act fast. (boycott, donate, pray and etc.) Remember, don't bother on the result, the effort that is always counts.

Let's pray and hope that our little effort will at least lighten up a small chance to break the Gaza's Siege.

SRCUTP is Going Green!

The planet Earth we are living in today is getting hotter by the day. The average temperature is increasing extremely higher than the usual days in few years back. It is undeniable that this climate change gives such big impact in our daily life.

While most people would blame it on the El Nino effect, the fact is most of the problems are the result of our own activities.

Feeling the urge to spread the awareness regarding this issue throughout the campus community, SRCUTP proudly introduce a new event with the aim to shape a loving-environment society in the campus which contributes to a greener, healthier and lifelong planet.

National Green Convention 2010 is an initiative of Students Representative Council 2009/10 of UTP to support the world’s concern on green initiatives and to inculcate the awareness on world’s environmental movement among UTP students.

Targeted to impose such great impact, this event covers various aspects in promoting green such as education, science, technology and entertainment. A lot of activities will be conducted such as green campaign, green technology exhibition, conference, concert and many more.

SRCUTP invites you to be part of our team to spread the green waves all over the campus!

Come and Join Us

Assalammualaikum.

Dear Sdr Hanif,

Congratulations on this noble effort.  I am very happy to note MPPUTP has responded well to my challenge on the need to organize sustainable community development programs especially with communities nearby UTP.  For the moment focus on these two schools.  After two months of implementation, pls do an evaluation to check effectiveness of the program and decide on way forward.

Pls contact SSSD or my office if you require any further assistance in managing this program.

Kind regards.

InFUD

InFUD is everywhere! People are talking about it here and there, posters can be seen all over the campus and obviously a spreading disease in your messengers list (gtalk, YM and etc) where almost everybody have InFUD on their status!

[InFUD+Poster.jpg]

InFUD stands for INTERFAITH UNDERSTANDING DIALOGUE 2010. It is an initiative of all student bodies together with almost all registered clubs in UTP to achieve an objective of understanding. Religion, believe and faith are always claimed to be sensitive topics which will lead to misunderstandings and fights. This claim has causes these topics to be left and untouched in most open discussions in the country and specifically in UTP .

Living in such a modern and educated environment, some universities had taken few steps ahead in organizing an open discussion on religion. 2010 shows that it is about time for  UTP to grab the challenge in organizing Interfaith Understanding Dialogue. The organizing committees believe that UTP students are well educated, open minded and able to think wisely. Having these characteristics, UTP students are extremely ready to face the Interfaith Understanding Dialogue.

Are you ready? Don't be left behind. No entry fee, only for the sake of knowledge.

INTERFAITH UNDERSTANDING DIALOGUE 2010

Date: 1st March 2010
Time: 8.00pm - 11.40pm
Venue: Chancellor Hall, UTP

Let's be united through understanding of other religions.

It is not about comparing and choosing the best.

Only a way in accepting similarities and respecting differences.

Alhamdulillah, last 20th February 2010 CnS EXCO with the help of 14 facilitators managed to conduct our very own 1st event; Systematic Community Service.

Sorry, I'm not in a mood of writing tonight. Still thinking about that little something and I'm quite tried after the whole day trip to Penang for our wastewater engineering course. A short and simple one from me.

So, let the pictures explain it all......

Travel two weeks back

Salam,
Alhamdulillah. Being at home has always lighten me up ;)

It was such a released to be able to be at home after almost one and a half month of hard work in UTP. Alhamdulillah.

Time has always been very jealous of me in the past few weeks which restricted me from updating on the 'hard work' I mentioned before. Well, Mr.Time seems to be a bit generous tonight. So, let's recall what had happened in the previous episode of the drama entitled 'UTP, SRC and Sara Lyana.'

  • 1st-3rd February - We had Minggu Mesra Kampus. SRCUTP and Martial Arts Festival collabrated to organized MMK successfully and came out with A Martial Arts Night for the first time during MMK.
  • 4-5th February - Rakan Exco Recruitment Drive. It was great and glad to have our new rakan exco with us now. Good Job CnS(don't miss CnS 1st meeting..hehe)
  • 6th February - Dinner with VP of Education PETRONAS
  • 7th February - Rakan Exco Kick-Off night. (Syed and I wore purple that night. My rakan exco should too but they forgot..hmm)
  • 8th February - SRC Weekly Meeting.
  • 9th February - Session with Class Representatives. An informative session with both good feedback and critics thrown to us. Those who came were really outspoken and helpful. If only everyone dare to come and share their thought with us rather than expressing the unsatisfied feeling to the wrong channel. SRC will keep improving and we can do that even more effecient by having all of you with us. That is what we meant by 'Pursuing Togetherness'.
  • 10th February - Welcoming Session for International Students of Jan10 intake by Culture and Society Exco. Syed (my exco 1) and I conducted a slot to welcome our international friends on behalf of SRCUTP. We gave them an overview of life in UTP and pointed out few steps they should consider as the starting moves to make friends and mingle around.
  • 11th February - Urgent Titian Budi Meeting as preparation to meet Ketua Menteri Melaka on the next day. They looked stressful. Yet, I can only say all the best and I'll pray for the very best. You all had work very hard so far. Thus, just leave the rest to Allah.
  • 12th February - Chinese New Year break. Gong Xi Fat Cai and Happy Holiday. Optimize your time with your family.

That's all for now. Mr.Time says it's time to sleep. Good night.

saat malam semakin sunyi, ku mohon keampunanMu atas kelalaian diakibat urusan dunia..moga setiap pekerjaan mendapat redhaMu..ya Rabb.

A Dinner with PETRONAS Vice President of Education

Salam and greetings..

Yes, it has been quite a while after the last post. Well, life has becoming more hectic since the lecture weeks have started and SRCUTP had so many events in a row for the previous two weeks. Not to forget the late night meetings, sudden tasks, reports, ETP meetings and assignments which really mountain up the stress and knocked me down to fell sick at the same time. But Alhamdulillah, Allah kept me strong all the way through and it was a good lesson for me to appreciate time and good health.

Ok, back to the topic. A dinner with PETRONAS Vice President of Education; Puan Juniwati Rahmat Hussin. The dinner was held on 6th February 2010 at Undercorft, CH. This dinner was the second event she had in Tronoh for 2010 after conducting a community service program organized by PETRONITA in Kg. Bali on 5th February which was also joined by SRCUTP. Surprisingly, SRCUTP and ISCUTP were invited to the dinner and had a chance to have a close session with her during the dinner.

During the dinner, she delivered a speech where she shared her wide experience while working in PETRONAS more than 20++ years. What I can say, she is a great leader, chemical engineer, business woman, sportswoman, loyal wife and loving mother. She is a great person who presents herself in such humble and graceful manner.

At the end of the speech, she opened the floor for Q&A session. Both SRCUTP and ISC did not fail to grab the opportunity to address issues related to PETRONAS scholarship and the university to the guest. Issues which were brought into discussion are;

1) Increment of scholarship
2) Employment of Petronas scholars by PETRONAS
3) PETRONAS marriage policy
4) Financial problem for new intake due to no sponsor from PETRONAS
5) CM
6) Internship and Exchange students program
7) International students related issues
8) Pay back amount upon graduation
9) Recognition of UTP - UTP in world ranking

These are some of the issues which I'm sure that there were actually more which I can't remember. We had both positive ad negative responses towards the issues. But we were satisfied that at least we were heard. We had given our reports on the issues and she will decide whether further discussion is needed. Hopefully she would consider our proposal to further discuss on certain issues.

I guess, that is all about now. Puan Junita did tell us a nice sharing. But, maybe I'll share it in the next post. This post seems had gone a bit serious ;)

p/s: tonight is the kick-off night of Rakan Exco which newly join us on board.
